Solar PPA screening example

A worked, non-client example showing how a set of assumptions flows through the current feasibility engine. It is not a real project, client case study or investment opportunity.

Illustrative only — not a client case study. No client, funder, site, endorsement or current investment opportunity is represented here.

Example assumptions recorded 14 September 2026

This example uses a 50 MW solar project with a 25-year PPA and a fixed tariff. Values below are rounded for reading; the calculator uses the full precision of the inputs. Re-run the same assumptions in the tool to inspect the annual schedule.

Assumptions

Technology and capacity
Solar PV · 50 MW
Solar output solarOutput
PVOUT 1,800 kWh/kWp/year
CAPEX capex
$800,000 per MW · $40.0m construction CAPEX
Commercial tariff
$0.05/kWh tariff · 25-year PPA · $7/kW/year OPEX
Financing
70% gearing · 18-year tenor · 6% interest · straight-line profile
Other inputs
1-year construction · 6-month DSRA · 25% tax · 20-year depreciation · 2% inflation · 0.5% degradation

Indicative outputs

Current engine output for the assumptions above
MeasureIndicative result
Project IRR (pre-tax)8.76%
Project IRR (post-tax)7.78%
Equity IRR10.92%
Minimum DSCR1.46x
Average DSCR1.55x
Year 1 energy90.0 GWh
Year 1 revenue$4.50m

DSCR values are calculated over annual periods with non-null debt service. They are not a lender covenant recommendation. The current engine does not output NPV.

How to read it

The outputs are sensitive to the tariff, resource assumption, CAPEX, OPEX, financing and tax inputs. They show what the current implementation does with this one set of numbers; they do not establish a project hurdle, guarantee debt capacity or indicate that a project is investable.

  • PVOUT is an illustrative annual assumption here; a live screen should record whether the value was retrieved, manually entered or a default.
  • Development costs and grid costs are both zero in this example and should be confirmed rather than treated as evidence that they are absent.
  • There is no named client, site, transaction, published outcome or GIA endorsement attached to this example.
